Year 2013 - 2014
Outerspace were engaged by the City of Playford to design a ‘Child Ride Safe Park’ at Mayfair Drive Reserve, Andrew’s Farm. This park is the first of its kind in the City of Playford. It features a mini-road network complete with pedestrian crossings, signage, traffic lights, natural play elements, art installations, custom designed ‘service station’ and ‘school building’.
The park encapsulates a hive of activity and carefree mayhem, providing opportunities for children to weave, stop, start and explore. The design also allows for provision of a shelter, BBQ and picnic facilities as well as a possible future playground if, as expected, the park is popular within the greater community.
As a school holiday project, seven children and their parents worked with two talented artists to design and paint the large upright timber art poles that reflected the surrounding environment and form part of an imaginary “woodlands” in the park.
The park was officially opened by the City of Playford’s Mayor, Glenn Docherty on the 18th July 2014 to a massive school holiday turn out of children of all ages with their bikes, scooters and parents in tow.
