Managing the environment including elements such as storm water is vital to the preservation of sustainable, interactive relationships between the environment and the community. The Outerspace focus, within a broad project dealing with stormwater capture and reuse, was on the development of recreational engagement opportunities and importantly, biodiversity.
The project scope included the design and development of two detention basins, two wetlands and a large storage dam within existing council reserves. Landscape work included replacement of facilities including bridges and a play space, the creation of trails, and planting of over 20,000 indigenous terrestrial plants. The process behind accomplishing these upgrades involved taking into the account the composition and layout of the land and utilising expertise and experience to ensure the successful and sustainable vegetation of the area.
